About Pigmentation

Pigmented lesions are hypermelanocytic areas typically induced by sun exposure, the natural aging process or congenital factors. Pigmented lesions vary widely in size, shape and depth. They can be either raised or flat and are usually a cosmetic rather than a medical concern. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) which targets the melanin is effective in treating benign lesions and clearing them.

Pigmentation Treatments & Application

Bvlaser’s light-based, laser and IPL treatments remove the appearance of spots and skin hyper-pigmentation by targeting the melanin in the darkened area and dispersing it. The tiny fragments of the pigment are then cleared through a natural process. This clears all of the pigmentation layers, to reveal even-toned, unblemished skin. The versatility of Bvlaser’ IPL enables effective and comprehensive treatment of a wide range of pigmented lesions.

Bvlaser's non-invasive skin surface repair system uses IPL technology to effectively remove pigment on the skin and reduce other signs of skin damage without affecting surrounding tissues. Through our highly customizable treatment, the sophisticated needle will emit radio frequency energy to ablate the tissue in the small footprint of each needle, helping to restore the skin appearance, thus forming a smoother and younger skin color

Most Frequent Questions And Answers

What can I expect during pigmentation treatment?

A: We will apply a clear gel to the skin on which the chilled laser handpiece will glide. Treatment progresses in stages:

Stage 1: Utilizing high precision beams, laser energy is delivered to distinct pigmentation, sun spots and age spots.

Stage 2: The same high precision beam is adjusted to match distinct vascular targets including superficial veins and cherry angiomas.

Stage 3: The laser is changed from a precision spot to a large spot for general background sun damage and pigmentation.

Is the pigmentation treatment painful?

A: You may experience a slight tingling during treatment. To help manage comfort and safety, the system is equipped with a chilled sapphire tip which cools the skin before, during, and after each pulse. Depending on the level of the treatment, we may offer a topical anesthetic to help numb the skin prior to treatment.

How long do pigmentation treatments take?

A:Treatments can take 5 to 30 minutes or more depending on size of the treatment area. If a topical anesthetic is necessary, you should allow 20 to 30 minutes or more for it to take effect. This is best discussed with our staff before treatment.
